Transformation of Light (Evžen Šimera)

Heavenly light filtered through the stained glass in Gothic cathedrals spoke to believers by the depicted religious stories. In my work, light is transformed by means of photovoltaic modules (solar panels placed temporarily on the roof of this building) into electrical energy. Transformed sun rays are brought into the room without natural day-light where you are now, historically a Gothic chapel. Here the rays manifest themselves again as visible light, this time filtered through a net of carved geometrical lines into an object of a modern-day three-dimensional stained glass pane. The simple form and black colour of the object are my idea of contemporary Gothic, its way of thinking and the form of delivering visual information.
