koncentrovaná helvetika má podobu různě velikých černých kruhů. velikost jednotlivých kruhů byla odvozena od konkrétních písmen, číslic a symbolů fontu helvetica regular. a to následujícím způsobem: pomocí architektonického programu autocad jsme změřili plošný obsah jednotlivých písmen (například i o velikosti 50 bodů má plošný obsah 21,77 milimetrů čtverečních a w o stejné velikosti 76,82 milimetrů čtverečních). žádné z písmen, číslic a symbolů fontu helvetica nemá stejný plošný obsah. poté jsme tyto plošné obsahy převedli na poloměry kruhů, ze kterých byly následně odvozeny velikosti jednotlivých kruhů – znaků nového fontu nazvaného koncentrovaná helvetika.
helvetica regular je velmi slavným fontem, autorem je max miedinger, který ho vytvořil v roce 1957. v jeho vizuální podobě se skloubí vrcholná modernita 50. let a naprostá uměřenost vizuálního výrazu. dalším důležitým faktem, který dopomohl helvetice stát se jedním z nejpoužívanějších fontů devadesátých let, je podpora společnosti apple. ve zmíněné době byla právě helvetica základním fontem systému mac os. což je také jeden z důvodů, proč jsme zvolili tento font a ne jiný.
tím, že jsme pozměnili zažité tvary jednotlivých znaků latinské abecedy a koncentrovali je v nejdokonalejší možný tvar, jakým je právě kruh, pokusili jsme se dotknout vlastní podstaty tohoto komunikačního nástroje. znovu prožít zkušenost seznámení s tvarem, který je nositelem určitého významu. přesně takovou zkušeností je první seznámení s abecedou ve škole.

helvetica concentrated takes the form of black circles of various sizes. the size of individual circles is derived from specific letters, figures and symbols of the font helvetica regular, doing so in the following way: using the architectural programme autocad we have measured the area of individual letters (e.g., i of the size 50 points has an area of 21.77 square millimetres; w of the same size 76.82 square millimetres). none of the letters, figures and symbols of the helvetica font has the same area. then we have converted these areas to the radiuses of circles, from which we have subsequently derived the sizes of individual circle-signs of the new font called helvetica concentrated.
helvetica regular is a famous font. it was created by max miedinger in 1957. its visual form combines high modernism of the 1950s and total restraint in visual expression. another important fact that helped helvetica to become one of the most frequently used fonts of the 1990s was the support of apple. at that time, helvetica was the basic font of the system mac os, which is one of the reasons why we opted for this particular font.
by changing the established forms of individual letters of the latin alphabet and concentrating them in the most perfect form as possible, which is circle, we have tried to touch the very substance of this means of communication – to live again through the experience of learning a sign which carries a certain meaning. the first encounter with the alphabet at school is just such an experience.
